I’m giving away one of my contributor copies of the new Henry & Glenn collection over on the  Burly Press Facebook Page to celebrate 1000 likes!
Click here to go to the giveaway post!
For those who don’t know about Henry & Glenn Forever & Ever… it’s a collaboration anthology that supposes “What if Henry Rollins & Glenn Danzig were a couple?” Also their neighbors are Hall & Oates (who are pot smoking, D&D playing satanists), and they run in to all sorts of folks from the rock & roll world.
This book, collected and edited by Tom Neeley (iwilldestroytom here on tumblr) it is about 250 pages of hilarious awesome… collecting the 4 issues of the miniseries and adding over 100 pages of extra stuff from over 50 different artists & writers (Including 2 pinups by yours truly), with a foreword by Rob Halford!
I’ll be picking a winner on Saturday 7/26/14
And if you didn’t win, or just want to buy a copy for yourself anyway, be sure to ask for it at your local comic shop! Or you can order it directly from  Microcosm Publishing.

The suspense! The drama! The surprises! :) I have way too much fun mailing people boxes. We sent out a beta box to 3 early Kickstarter backers last week! More details on what was in it after the beta unboxers open their surprises!

Hey everybody! A friend of mine is working with a group of folks that are trying to launch a new subscription box service called Hero Chest! It’s a curated comic book subscription. Every box has one TPB, 3 new single issues, and some extra schwag.

For instance, the beta box they just sent out had Superman: H’el On Earth TPB, Grayson #1, Star Lord #1, and Outcast #1, a Marvel mini blind box fig, & a Mjolnir ice tray, as well as some promo comic ad items and the latest Comic Shop News.

Check out their Kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/herochest/hero-chest and help them get started! Sounds like a great way to get some fun new comics you may not have thought about picking up.

Also, please reblog and signal boost! They are off to a slow start and need to get the word out any way they can!

Got my hands on a copy of The Humans #0 by @iwilldestroytom & @keenanmarshallkeller… All I gotta say is: bring on the biker-apeploitation! It’s super fun, violent, rude, and I can’t wait for the next issue. You can get #0 through http://www.humansforlife.com and the regular series will be published through a major publisher in November. (so be sure to ask for it at your LCS!)

Q
Hi. I just wanted to know how you feel about someone using your design for tattoo ideas? After a few years of thinking about it, I've finally decided that I want to get a tattoo, and I would love to use your WTNV boy scout patches design. I just wanted to ask you how you felt about it/ask for your permission. If necessary, I am willing to pay to use your design.

Hi, Anon!

Well first, I dunno why you needed to send that question anon :D so I hope you see this answer since I can’t private reply to anons…

But secondly, I am extremely fucking flattered that you would want my art on your body! I have no problems with you getting a tattoo based on my work. Thank you for asking too, that was very respectful. Just do me a solid and send me pics of the finished product and maybe gimme a shout out when you show it off to the world! :) either submit pics thru tumblr or you can email jeremy (at) burlypress (dot) com

And no money necessary… It’s not like you commissioned it personally, and also not like I own the concepts from Nightvale. It was meant as fan art, and shall remain out there for other fans to enjoy.

If you have any more questions message me off anon and I can reply privately to you if you wish, or email me.

My #raydoh entry into @raykampf’s 50th birthday gallery exhibition. He have out 50 blank raydohs (based on a little people style characature he’s used of himself for years) and did a sort of custom toy show in addition to a gallery retrospective of his work. There’s a ton of cool stuff here! Will try and get more pics up! #halfcenturyofkampf (at KGB Gallery)

It can be really frustrating working on the comics sometimes.
There’s a large, vocal audience declaring how much they want to see more diversity in comics and more LGBTQ characters. I was one of them, even. And it’s why I made The Pride.
However, when an indie project comes out with just that, a lot of this audience don’t actually buy the product they’d been calling out for: because it’s not from Marvel or DC.

Fact is though, if an audience doesn’t prove a desire and market for such a product, they won’t be willing to take a risk on creating one of their own.
Obviously, I’m small press. I self-publish. I pay to get the comics made out of my own pocket. At the moment, there’s still around £5000 to pay artists for work and get the rest of the series printed when it comes to it. This isn’t even taking into account the cost of postage etc…it’s hard work, and takes up a lot of my time and money.

But it’s a labor of love, so I keep working at it. I wouldn’t change that for the world. But I do wish that I was able to pay the artists faster and could afford printing easier.
The Pride has 841 Likes on Facebook. If all of them bought just one copy of The Pride digital issues (at just £1.50), any issue, that would raise a massive chunk needed towards paying off the remaining artists! It would literally fund itself. I wouldn’t make any money myself, but I don’t care about that. This project is as much about building my profile and name as a writer than it is about getting rich…I will never get rich off The Pride, but I love doing it.
Likes are all well and good, honestly they are great and a massive help in their own right, but it doesn’t help me actually make the comics. And it’s frustrating to see this market, this audience, saying they want a product and then just…not.

Just felt like sharing that is all. In case anyone is considering making comics of their own. Obviously, I don’t want to scare anyone off: you wanna make comics, make comics. But be prepared for hard times and struggles, but if you work hard it could well all be worth it in the end.
And of course, if you do want to buy The Pride, you can do so here.

I really do recommend this book, it’s absolutely a pleasure to read and a clear labor of love.

Seriously, people: walk the walk. Don’t just shout for more representation. Buy the damn comics.

You wanted it, now you got it. Put your money where your mouth is.

Thanks!

I can share this frustration myself. But like he says, it is a labor of love too so I love doing it.

Hey hey! Burly Press got a little but of an interview in Euro Bear Magazine issue #102 that’s coming out this month. If you’re in Europe it should be available now-ish… And for USA/North America folk it will be available shortly through ZEBRAZ.US so keep an eye out for it!

Obligatory airport selfie. On my way home from DCC. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by the table and bought stuff from me and @gregfreeland… Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi, and all my friends I got to see. Apologies to anyone I missed while I was in “work mode”. Hopefully next year I will be able to stay an extra day or two, and hopefully @bobaloorocks can come with me and meet you all too! #gpoy #tired #happy (at Denver International Airport)
